About the limit switches, optical encoder speed control cables, and mounts
The controller board that we have made for us by MASSO is designed specifically for our machines. The software and the wiring configurations are proprietary to Sherline Products.
You can purchase any of the limit switches, or optical encoder, and their associated cables and mounts from Sherline. However, these components and cable connections are not compatible with any stock MASSO board that you buy directly from MASSO.
This is especially true regarding the optical encoder and our speed control. Our speed control is an older analog system that is being controlled through software that was created specifically for our system. If you were to connect our optical encoder to your stock MASSO board, you may get an accurate RPM readout, but you would not be able to control the RPM of the spindle motor with G-code.
That being said, you can purchase the limit switches with their pigtail and connector. You can also purchase our limit switch mounts and eccentric triggers to be mounted on your Sherline machine. You may then connect them to any controller that is configured to work with our limit switches.
There will be one or two holes that need to be drilled and tapped on your machine in order to retrofit some of our limit switch mounts.
